Once you eat at Oklahoma Joe's Barbecue & Catering, you will never again bypass a restaurant just because it's attached to a Total station. Oklahoma Joe's, at the corner of 47th Street and Mission Road, looks like just another restaurant wedged between a gas station and a liquor store. Yet the people who live nearby know that the barbecue there is as good as any in Kansas City. Smoked chicken dinners, pulled pork, sausage, and a full slab of ribs each take a turn as dinner specials on select nights of the week. On Saturdays, beers are a dollar all day long. As in all good barbecue joints, the line can be intimidating, but call in carry-out orders and go straight to the front of the line.
