The Get Up Kids sold out shows at venues around the country long before they packed local clubs to capacity, but area scenesters crammed into The Bottleneck on September 1 to give the group an affectionate send-off as it started its U.S. tour. Holding up their end of the bargain, the Kids greeted their hometown fans with an emotional set. The group's guitarists literally kicked out the jams, extending their legs skyward during their upbeat numbers, while Matt Pryor sang the band's signature ballads with clarity and subtlety.
