Since KLZR switched formats, it's been difficult to hear the kind of mid-'90s alternative rock personified by those adorable frat-funk scamps the Red Hot Chili Peppers anywhere on the dial. Now KRBZ 96.5 has filled the void, spinning grunge-era heroes Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Everclear, Beck, and especially the Chili Peppers, from "Soul to Squeeze" to "Under the Bridge" to "Scar Tissue," on a regular basis along with vintage punk (The Clash) and today's arena-fillers (Creed, Three Doors Down). The station has lived up to its name, as music-lovers throughout the area tuned in and immediately began debating the worthiness of its playlist. But fans of the Peppers and their contemporaries have The Buzz on lock, and they're unlikely to switch.
