Good hair is a genetic thing, crossed with a fortuitous encounter with a talented stylist. KMBC Channel 9's Jim Flink has a friend in his barber; so does Karen Kornacki, who has taken her makeover on Oprah last year to heart. KCTV Channel 5's Gary Amble has that clean-cut, corn-fed approach to grooming that will keep him looking like the boy next door who cuts your lawn for free. But this honor has to go to Gary Lezak, whose hair -- or lack thereof -- during chemotherapy this year might have led image-conscious news directors of the past to put him out of sight during the treatments. Hooray for KSHB for its chutzpah in letting Lezak be Lezak.
