CD Warehouse

For records, try midtown fixtures Recycled Sounds and The Music Exchange -- CD Warehouse doesn't stock vinyl. Nor is its selection of new CDs comparable to larger stores (although CD Warehouse staffers can easily order any title and you'll receive it within a week). But when it comes to used CDs, this unassuming store boasts an impressive inventory. With a wide variety of Kansas and Missouri music fans dropping off discards on a daily basis, the titles change frequently. CD Warehouse's staff is knowledgeable and up-to-date, but its workers don't conform to the snobby High Fidelity stereotype, so feel free to bring in Bell Biv Devoe and Ratt records without shame (just because they won't mock such albums, however, doesn't mean they'll buy them). CD Warehouse has locations in Gladstone, Independence, Lee's Summit, Shawnee, and Olathe, but the store in downtown Overland Park offers the most consistently diverse used treasure.
