The rainbow-striped papier-mache people flying from the ceiling are the first indication that the Reading Reptile is not a store for adults; it's for kids, however old they may be. Characters from bedtime stories dot the shelves and evoke memories of Paddington Bear, his duffle coat and his marmalade. Children's books from all over the world are available for browsing or purchase, and the owners know the authors, illustrators and titles well, so if any particular memories need reviving, they can steer customers in the right direction. Some very big kids who love this store have even skimmed the illustrated pages for tattoo ideas. But don't tell their parents. Or the FBI copyright office.
