"We have lapses. We don't think quickly enough. We don't handle pressure particularly well. Our big guys didn't have the energy or the effort that I thought they would come with. They were knocked back. We became just a perimeter team, and eventually that is going to catch up to you. We weren't strong." -- Quin Snyder, following the Tigers' 105-73 loss to the Jayhawks, Missouri Radio Network
GH: Translation: My guys are poorly coached.

"I keep hearing about their talent [in the Royals organization], and they've got some good young pitching arms. We'll just have to wait and see. I learned my lesson in Triple A, and that's to not get too excited about that team until the last cuts are made and you see who you have."
-- Bucky Dent, the new manager of the Omaha Royals, Omaha World Herald
GH: Dent may have come up with the Royals' new slogan: "We'll just have to wait and see."

"Any guy can go to the New York Yankees and the New York Mets and play there for a year and win a championship and say, 'Wow, this is special.' But I've been in the Kansas City Royals organization for eleven years. For me to go through the rebuilding process, through the years of struggling on this team, and then win a championship? That would be rewarding to me."
-- Mike Sweeney, KMBC Channel 9
GH: If you are looking for a reason to care about the Royals this year, he wears No. 29 on his back. Mike Sweeney is everything I want in a hometown hero.
"I think in the next five to ten years, the whole [sports television] business is going to go upside down, and it's basically going to be a pay-per-view situation with the NFL. I don't know how much longer free TV is going to be free."
-- Kevin Harlan, 810 WHB
GH: You only need to look at the astronomical salaries paid to coaches and players in professional sports to understand why owners are looking to charge for viewing televised games. The day is coming when a ticket to a sporting event will be less expensive than watching it at home.
