Best Missouri Version of Frontier HouseRock Eddy Bluff FarmPublished on October 17, 2002On PBS's 2002 reality show Frontier House, several lucky families lived for months on a contrived "American frontier," making straw beds, fattening and slaughtering hogs, sewing clothes and chopping wood for winter. Watching them, viewers longed for a return to the simpler times of homemade dinners, oil lamps and conversation. Rock Eddy Bluff Farm offers the perfect setting. Located above the Gasconade River valley, the farm's Line Camp Cabin has all the comforts of home -- circa 1880. The woodsy cabin boasts a porch swing, kerosene lamps, a water pump, a wood stove and no electricity. But there is a corral for guests' horses.
