When Eleni Mandell plays alone, she's an inescapable focal point, a guitar-strumming dynamo exuding sensuality, danger and delusion in her siren songs. But at her most recent gigs with a backing band, attention has drifted to the fascinatingly odd equipment used by her ax man, Woody. This "guitorgan," which produces the full spectrum of sounds from both its titular components plus a kaleidoscope of other effects, altered the fantasies of male fans. Instead of staring at Eleni with goo-goo eyes, many ogled the instrument.
