For drinkers, the benefits of saki on a first date simply cannot be understated. First, it's foreign, which means it's legitimate in a way that a shot of Wild Turkey never will be. Second, it arrives in a miniature pitcher-jug that even guys can call cute. Third, and most important, it packs a wallop, and whether the date has just started or it's already headed for the shitter, a few shots of alcohol-aided tea mixed with a Japanese beer is the ultimate social lubricant. Now, the trick is finding the right sushi restaurant. The Wa, which opened in December, boasts a hip but warm atmosphere and a menu large enough to satisfy even the most unadventurous sushi eaters. Add the restaurant's Massachusetts Street location, and the Wa becomes the perfect environment to host those nervous but exciting first outings.
