Don't let the name of the Faith Lutheran Church's Giant Toy Garage Sale fool you.

The church (4805 West 67th Street in Prairie Village) will not be selling toy garages of grand proportions. Nor is it a sale for enormous toys. The adjective giant is used here to describe the large scale of the sale, not the wares. The Community Disability Network sells thousands of donated toys to families, teachers, children and collectors every year. Kansas City church and civic groups, as well as individuals, donate toys throughout the year for volunteers to clean and repair for happy new owners. The Community Disability Network promises that every game has all its pieces, every electronic toy works (and may even come with batteries), and every doll looks pretty. The sale begins at 8 a.m. and lasts until 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For $5, shoppers can preview the goods from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Call 913-648-2317 for details.-- Michael Vennard

Now that the Crayola exhibit is off the wallpaper, take your budding artists to Union Station's La Strada dell'Arte street-painting festival to begin work on their temporary pastel-and-chalk installations.
