Hairdresser-in-training Tracey Robertson remembers well the day she cut her first mullet. The day the guy wearing the wife-beater and driving the monster truck pulled into the salon parking lot with his daughter, a cute girl with long, beautiful hair. People come to La Baron to experiment, she says. Haircuts are five bucks, and because the hairdressers are all students pursuing cosmetology degrees, everyone is eager to try new things. "I know people are hesitant to have students cut their hair, but I've never seen someone come out looking all jacked up," Robertson says. That was, until the day that guy instructed her to cut a bi-level into his daughter's hair. "He had definite ideas about how it's done," she says. "He even took the comb and styled it himself."
