You shouldn't buy a raincoat from this lady. Carrie Wilson makes most of her clothes out of paper. It may sound like a gimmick, but it's so much more than that -- the outfits Wilson assembles are totally hot. It takes getting up close to them for a person to realize that these bustiers, skirts and shoes aren't made out of fabric. The handbags, too, show her fabulous taste. She uses a pieced-together-yet-professional look, and sticks with sharp, vibrant colors: lots of red, black and white. Don't even get us started on her apron-based skirts. So even if Wilson hadn't had the clever idea of making paper clothes, we'd still be enamored of her creations for purely stylistic reasons. But then there's the paper thing. Why is this so impressive? Because you can't just crumple up paper while you sew and then iron out the wrinkles later. You can't hide holes created by a misguided needle. You can see her creations in such places as Isabel's and the Fahrenheit Gallery window. And meeting Wilson inspires nothing but confidence in her fashion sensibilities. Her signature red cowboy boots are the greatest, especially when paired with short shorts.
