The Kansas City, Missouri, School District is becoming quite a talent mill for basketball stars. First there was Central grad Michael Watson, who has become one of the nation's top scorers at UMKC and is a sure first-round pick for the NBA. Now there's Paseo's Quinton Day. Scoring more than 20 points a game, he led the Pirates to a second-place finish in the Missouri state tournament. Now he's bound for the University of Southern California on a full ride. With his experience running the court as point guard against all those perennially tough PAC-10 teams (Oregon, UCLA, Arizona), we fully expect him to be wearing a suit on draft day four years from now -- or maybe even sooner.
