The End of the Pedestrian Bridge Overlooking the Missouri River

Like a $4 million inspiration point, the pedestrian bridge overlooking the Missouri River just north of the City Market is bound to become the city's make-out destination of choice. Look down, and the water's rippled surface becomes a liquid link between Kansas City and the steaming streets of New Orleans, the café-lined rues of Paris, the powder-sand beaches of Tahiti. Less dreamy pump primers are found in the vibrations of a passing train, the phallic smokestacks of Trigen and the feminine curves of the Broadway Bridge (only to get better and more Parisian when its paint job is finally finished and the thing gets bathed in light). The long, straight pedestrian bridge itself provides plenty of warning when visitors approach, allowing sufficient time for fly-zipping, blouse-buttoning and hair-smoothing. And the bridge is across the gravel parking lot from Garrett's Market if a bottle of pre- or post-smooching wine is in order.
