Dennis Dailey is a respected professor who has won numerous awards since joining the University of Kansas faculty in 1969. But he's best known for sex. For twenty years, Dailey's human sexuality course has been among KU's most popular classes. This spring, it became the school's most controversial. Conservative Wichita Senator Susan Wagle conducted a one-woman jihad against Dailey after allegations of classroom impropriety came to light. According to Wagle's complaint, Dailey's students were being sexually harassed and exposed to pornography -- with taxpayers footing the bill. A hailstorm of publicity and debate ensued. Fox News loudmouth Bill O'Reilly took the professor to task in a number of typically volatile rants on The O'Reilly Factor. As it turned out, the pornographic materials in question were clinical education tape, and the harassment allegations were unfounded. KU cleared Dailey after a lengthy investigation, then bestowed the distinguished professor with the prestigious Del Shankel Teaching Excellence Award. Now that's sexy!
