Andrew WKSunday, April 25, at the Bottleneck.By Annie ZaleskiPublished on April 22, 2004During an epic interview last summer, Andrew WK discussed his then-upcoming album The Wolf as if it were the soundtrack to a Dionysian orgy. "It's music made for the pleasure of listening to it itself," he said. "It's an absolute continuation of what the first album [I Get Wet] established -- enjoying life and appreciating it and keeping it as hard and intense as you can." WK's heart was in the right place -- Wolf did maintain the inspiring, piano-and-guitar pomp and circumstance of his debut -- but the critical and commercial reception was no cause for celebration. Yet such missteps didn't deter the eternally upbeat WK. He's currently partying -- hard, naturally -- on "The Never-Ending Spring-Break Party Tour." Sure, the jaunt's name might conjure visions of drunken Cancun hookups, but it's mostly just old-school rawk antics: feral, fist-pumping piano solos and the highest possible number of head-banging fans per square inch.
