The Gourds

Tuesday, June 1, at Davey's Uptown.

Fuck convention. Sometimes you just have to make music. Bang two rocks together, howl at the moon or kick down a Snoop Dogg cover on the mandolin if you have to. For the members of the Gourds, it really doesn't matter. It's all about the hootenanny. And the dancing. Maybe some pretty women, too. Did I mention the drinking? And even though the hoopla over the band's cover of "Gin and Juice" has died down, the Gourds still stand tall while keeping the alt in alt-country. A word to the wise, though: Don't be the asshole yelling out for Snoop in the middle of the show. You're likely to be taken out to the alley for a proper beatdown. Maybe you should just buy the band drinks instead.
