Insane Clown Posse

Hell's Pit is allegedly the final installment of the Insane Clown Posse saga, the last of the band's six "joker's cards." Pit debuted in the Top 20 on the Billboard album chart and has sold more than 100,000 copies in its first few weeks of release. The album cover boasts that Pit is the "darkest horror rap album" in the ICP catalog, which would lead a reasonable person to anticipate a truly vile and shocking record, but the group seems to have moved beyond its wicked roots. In fact, the duo seems to be pulling a Metallica in its exposure of tender feelings. "Everyday I Die" urges listeners to run away in order to be safe. The chorus of "C.P.K." thunders, Spread your wings and you can fly away/We can fly together."Manic Depressive" is a cutesy track that features little kids and some of the whitest female rapping this side of Northern State. South of Heaven it ain't. This is the sound of a group that has grown weary of its own shtick. Undoubtedly, ICP will continue making music, but the duo seems eager to put down the clown once and for all.
