SAT 8/27
Join the labor party (no, not the Labor Party) at Saturday's Labor Day Parade, starting at 11 a.m. at Third Street and Wyandotte and ending with a rally in Richard Berkley Riverfront Park (the south bank between Interstate 35 and Missouri Highway 9). SAFE and Sound
Attending a soccer game never felt so good.

FRI 8/26
The Wizards' future in Kansas City is far from secure, but SAFE night is not about the team. Established in October 2003, the Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund (SAFE, or SSAFEF to acronym literalists) provides financial assistance to the families of police officers, firefighters and emergency workers killed in the line of duty. For Friday's 7 p.m. game at Arrowhead Stadium (1 Arrowhead Drive) against the Columbus Crew, Gold Club Level reserved seats (normally $26) go for $10, with $3 earmarked for SAFE. People who want to contribute to the cause but can't make it to the game (or won't go to Arrowhead unless American football is in session) can donate their purchased tickets to the Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers or Big Sisters through SAFE. Actual soccer enthusiasts know this matchup bodes well for Chris Klein, Preki and the rest of the home squad, given that the Crew ranks dead last in the division. For tickets, call 816-960-6800. -- Andrew Miller

H2Ohhh
Skinny-dipping at Aquafest?

SAT 8/27
We're hoping for an appearance from Vince "Aquaman" Chase, star of Entourage, at Aquafest. After all, the family-friendly summer closer -- from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Lake Park (15500 South Lone Elm Road in Olathe, 913-971-6263) -- is supposedly a celebration of water. And Aquaman loves water. Keep your fingers crossed. -- Annie Fischer
