We at the Pitch recently heard of an APB from one of Kabal's leading wax captains, DJ Ataxic, calling out to all crew members that things would be changing on his watch down in the River Market. On March 20, Ataxic posted the following statements on his MySpace blog: "We at Kabal are changing things up for a bit on Saturday nights. For the next couple of months, I will be playing Old School Hip Hop, Funk & Soul and the cheesy Top 40s. I know that Kabal is beginning to get a reputation of being too 'thuggish.' Well, we are trying to change that. No more 'Lean Wit It Rock Wit It,' no more 'Laffy Taffy,' and shit like that. I am ready to take it back to when music was fun. You might hear anything from Main Source, to the Jackson 5, to the Police. I will be throwing in some old funk and breaks for all of the b-boys. I could really use some help on this. The crowd that is there now will hate the music I will be playing, but I really don't give a damn. The dance floor will be empty with plenty of room, since the usual crowd is NOT going to like the new Saturdays. Hit me up and let me know if you can make it. If not, don't sweat it, I understand, but it would be great to see some faces that share the same love of music." See you there, Ataxic.
