For some time now, the Empire Room in midtown has been one of KC's best 3 a.m. options. The Empire seems to be a rare breed as far as area nightclubs go, especially for its mature, open and unafraid interracial mingling. Labor Day at the ER brings us yet another block party on Martini Corner, this time with Two Heavy (resident DJ) and "the ladies" behind the mixing board and turntables. Two Heavy has a loyal following of clubbers who go bananas for his patented house mixed with hip-hop. Sara Please of Deep Fix and Baby Jen (also a bartender at the neighboring Velvet Dog) should bring heat with house and breaks. Meanwhile, cQuence (pictured) could play an assortment of electro, house and '80s and also display her fantastic taste in drum-'n'-bass rhythms.
