The Ssion reinvents itself with a frequency rivaling Pete Doherty's drug arrests, but for a year the band has seemed comfortably rooted in punk basics, leaving little opportunity for leader Cody Critcheloe to get his dance on. Enter Street Jizz, a collaboration with Ashley Miller, fellow Ssioner and the mystic weirdo behind tonight's headliner, Pewep in the Formats. "I wanted to write a song that was a throwback to '90s pop, like Dee-lite," Critcheloe tells the Pitch. "The Ssion wasn't interested, but Ashley was." Street Jizz blew its nut at a Review Magazine launch party last July, where Critcheloe, resembling Prince, circa '78, cooed "Gee whiz! Street jizz!" Scantily clad dancers and his own bizarre animation provided the background. Tonight's show promises new surprises.
