This week brings a little something extra for area DJs. No one would disagree about the sad state of the circulation of vinyl records in Kansas City, but Necia Gamby (founder of Hiphopkc.com and Joe Good's mama) has never been short of extracurricular activities for the Kansas City hip-hop community, and this time there's love for record wreckers. From 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Westport Roanoke Community Center, Gamby hosts the first installment of the Hip-Hop Swap 'n' Shop Fallout. For this makeshift swap meet, everyone is encouraged to bring their used clothing, memorabilia, records, CDs and trinkets for sale or barter. (Contact hiphopkc@gmail.com to rent a merch table.) DJ Shad, Joc Max, DJ Shobee, DJ Kiz-One and Miles Bonny are scheduled to be in attendance with plenty of records for your digging pleasure. (A listening station will be provided as well.) Shobee and Kiz-One will perform DJ sets for atmosphere, and Gamby and Mz. Amber (Shad's girl) will prepare chili, spiced cider and sweets. Proceeds fund Hiphopkc.com and rental space at the community center for practicing B-boys.
