Back in college, a slightly dippy roommate threw a pink-drink party with her best friend. Dressing in matchy-matchy pastel-pink Ralph Lauren turtlenecks, they took turns whipping up batches of Bacardi frozen strawberry daiquiris. Pink turtlenecks still make me shudder. The Pink Drink Party at Blue (13424 Santa Fe Trail in Lenexa, 913-999-2365) will probably be a little less — uh, how shall we say — dainty than the roommate’s shindig. Especially because local promoters K.E.G. are behind it and have tagged it with the rallying cry “Keep the middle of your week pink.” Crude double-entendres aside, Blue — a new martini place in Old Town Lenexa — waives cover for the ladies (guys pay $3) and offers estrogen-friendly specials on Cosmos and Bacardi drinks. DJ Audiom spins an array of retro stuff (read: ’80s and ’90s) as well as contempo hits. Festivities start at 10 p.m.
