Bill Callahan Makes You "Sycamore"

By Andy Vihstadt

Published on April 19, 2007

A good handle is important. Maybe that's Bill Callahan's new angle. After all, he shares the same name with the coach for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Later this month, the artist who has usually recorded under the name Smog will release his first LP as a solo artist. "Sycamore" suggests that the name might not be the only change we should expect on Woke on a Whaleheart. Download the track at Callahan's label site, Drag city.com, for a taste of the songwriter's most sonically polished work to date. And while you're there, feel free to snag "Spring Break" from the forthcoming album from the Fucking Champs, a band we hope never fucks with its name.
