It ain’t summer ’til your hair stinks of chlorine. That chemically cleaned water sure does feel good when you’re splashing around on a hot day, diving for pennies and doing the dead man’s float. Pool rats without enough pennies (it usually takes 200) to get past the cashier need not fear a dry season. Five Kansas City pools offer free swimming from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays: Line Creek Pool (5940 Northwest Waukomis Drive), Grove Pool (1500 Benton Boulevard), Swope Pool (6700 Lewis Road), Brush Creek Pool (Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard and Cleveland Avenue) and Budd Pool (5600 Budd Park Esplanade). Dive into Swope Pool free from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays, too. Call 816-513-7500 or see www.kcmo.org for details.
Tuesdays-Thursdays, 4-7 p.m. Starts: May 29. Continues through Sept. 1
