When rooting for the Kansas City T-Bones, a little creative jeering can add beaucoup excitement to your Northern League experience. Take, for instance, the Joliet Jackhammers, who play the T-Bones tonight. When the Jackhammers take the field, consider a chant of “Where’s the bacon? (Clap! Clap! Clap-clap-clap!)” in honor of Kevin Bacon, who filmed parts of Stir of Echoes in the Chicago exurb. Sing a round of “All Night Long (All Night)” for notable Joliet native Lionel Richie, or “Jail House Blues” as an ode to the Joliet Prison. You might not sabotage their game, but you’ll sure amuse your neighbors. If not, you can always buy them a round of $1 hot dogs in honor of hot-doggin’ drummer and Joliet resident Jimmy Chamberlin. Or you can simply marvel at the big bat of beefy Royals alum Calvin Pickering and the hustle of scrappy athletes playing for passion and peanuts. Tickets start at $8.50 for tonight’s brouhaha at CommunityAmerica Ballpark (1800 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas, 913-328-2255). Don’t fret if it looks like rain — it’s free-umbrella night.
