Sheryl Underwood

Published on August 30, 2007

Sheryl Underwood is one of the funniest and topical standup comics working on the road today. Sheryl can be seen as Catfish Rita in Beauty Shop starring Queen Latifah. The New York Times called Sheryl a "...scene-stealing vendor..." and Entertainment Weekly said "...There are fun touched...like the soul food peddler (Sheryl Underwood) who keeps offering folks "monkey bread" followed by a nutty jungle screech." As co-host of BET's talk show Oh Drama! Sheryl was an immediate hit. Black Entertainment Television recognized Sheryl's way with words and sharp appeal and called on her to host her own show Hollah! Always a member of the BET family, Sheryl was brought back to Comic View with her own segment "Sheryl Speaks" and given one of the coveted performance spots on the BET Comedy Awards.
