Last year, faculty from the UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance and the Kansas City Art Institute collaborated for monthly experimental performances called
ArtSounds.
Series co-director Paul Rudy says, ÂItÂs interesting to put conservatory people, who tend to be slightly overdisciplined, with Art Institute folks, who are unbelievably creative. Not that theyÂre not disciplined as well. And not that the conservatory folks donÂt have ideas. But ... thatÂs where the interesting messiness happens.Â
TonightÂs performance addresses the Iraq War and incorporates a series of provocative images and original jazz compositions. The performance at Epperson Auditorium in Vanderslice Hall (on the Art Institute campus, 4415 Warwick) starts at 8 p.m. Admission is free. Call 816-802-3423 for more information.
