Maybe it’s her bejeweled cat’s-eye glasses, her schoolmarm gentility or her nostalgic sensibilities, but something about Donna Foulk attracts little old ladies. Foulk has been peddling vintage clothing and accessories for years, and she often receives calls about estate sales and collections from women who’ve long since traded their peep-toe pumps for orthopedic sneakers. She has finally set up a storefront in the rear of the boutique Revue (1415 West 39th Street), which often stocks vintage reproductions. Foulk’s store is the real deal: well-preserved prairie skirts, ribboned frocks and patent-leather clutch purses. She obviously has a fondness for the blushing, wholesome ’50s: Much of the store looks like a Sandra Dee repository, and even the name — Donna’s Dress Shop — smacks of gingham and mink. Although fur collars and woolen steno-pool suits abound, the store covers all pregrunge decades. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday; call 816-561-6059.
