Chris Weaver's skillful, practical and utterly bizarre sculptures include two glimmering bronze grills, one shaped like a human head and the other in the form of a wild-boar Hibachi. These and other assemblages will be on display in Doing the Work Other Americans Won't Do, the latest exhibition at Rockhurst University's Greenlease Gallery (1100 Rockhurst Road). The odd title of the show, a nod to immigrant controversies, is also Weaver's wry way of describing the vocation of the artist.Weaver, who runs his own gallery in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, is a craftsman as well as an artist. His wide range of experiences — college professor, carpenter, painter, designer, conservationist — testifies to his skill and vision.
