Adult Stick Time

Admit it. You still have visions of settling into a lower-level seat at the Sprint Center, proudly sporting a Kansas City Penguins Sidney Crosby jersey. You can see it now: Crosby retrieves a loose puck at center ice, dodges Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Derian Hatcher and decks the goalie for the game winner. The crowd erupts with a cheer that shatters all the glass of the thoroughly windowed arena.Alas, the Penguins stayed in Pittsburgh. So make your own hockey fun on Monday nights at Line Creek Ice Arena (5940 Northwest Waukomis Drive), where, from 9:20 to 10:40, it's open adult hockey night. Admission costs $12 or is free for anyone willing to play goalie. Pull out the old equipment that you hastily bought in college after your obsession with NHL '94 on Sega Genesis prompted you to get more exercise: the taped-up stick, the shoulder pads with decades-old musk, the skates from the Dorothy Hamill collection. And don't forget your self-described legendary trash talk and a few errant elbows. For more information, call 816-513-0760. Line Creek Ice Arena
