For skiers and snowboarders, the vertically unintimidating geography of the Midwest presents a challenge. Or, rather, not enough of a challenge. Consequently, many Plains-states dwellers haven't experienced the combined joys of gravity and snow-covered slopes.Tonight, powder will fly at a screening of Warren Miller's Playground at Tivoli Cinemas (4050 Pennsylvania, 913-383-7756). Playground zips viewers around the globe as high-definition film catches ski and snowboard pros hitting the slopes. The action is narrated by Olympic gold medalist Jonny Moseley; look for Bode Miller, brothers Zach and Reggie Crist, and the Burton Smalls snowboarding team in the movie.Admission costs $12, and proceeds benefit Visual Inspiration, a local nonprofit that works to support social and environmental issues through film, multimedia and photography.
