Sterilize Stereo

By Richard Gintowt

Published on November 29, 2007

Young band Sterilize Stereo left Kansas City in August for the progressive mecca of Portland, Oregon, where there's working light rail and a viable circus-rock scene. The band has already played 15 shows in the Pacific Northwest and befriended some equally crackerjack old-timey acts; a December showcase is scheduled at Portland's hip punk-cabaret joint, Dante's. Singer and guitarist Jake Kersely reports that the Sterilize crew is in good spirits and has written a slew of shack-wacky new songs. The prodigal gypsies bring their brand of "apocalyptic cabaret" (think Tom Waits meets Gogol Bordello) back to the area for two shows with St. Louis psych-blues slingers Red Water Revival.
