North Lawrence's burgeoning road-hog haven consists of a Harley dealership, a tattoo parlor and the Slow Ride Roadhouse (1350 North Third Street). The spick-and-span Slow Ride is home to a never-say-die subculture of "99 percenters" — the bikers who don't plug their butts with meth and toss each other across bar tops. Against a backdrop of faux-Western landscape and neon-orange pool tables, diners jam their arteries with Awesome Blossoms and feast on awesomely named bands such as Hot Load and Taint. The latter brings its ballsy brand of Bonner Springs sleaze-rock to the Slow Ride's stage tonight; like all shows, it's as free as a Hell's Angel on the lam. >
