“Bloodclot” by Murderbot

DJ and producer Murderbot is the latest in a never-ending line of diamond-in-the-rough musicians who have flown the KC coop. Chrissy Marie, as he's also known, has run his own record label, Dead Homies, out of his home since 2005. (Now, home is in Chicago.) His latest vinyl release, which is available at Love Garden, is an EP of wicked ragga-jungle productions with vocal samples from the likes of Mobb Deep and Nas. Chrissy has received kind words from XLR8R and Pitchfork but remains a virtual unknown in his hometown. Recently, he started a sister label called Sleaze Tone Records, on which he's issuing an album by the KC electro-pop sensation the Ssion. He also has plans to release a 12-inch with official remixes of the Ssion's single "Clown" by himself and others. In the meantime, expect Murderbot to keep making moves, regardless of whether anyone in this town is paying attention.
