There's nothing like a lazy Saturday morning stroll through your local farmers market and conversation with the friendly folks who grow your food. It may be a few more weeks before you can trade a couple of bucks for the freshest produce around, but today the Kansas City Food Circle hosts a get-together for consumers and farmers to become better acquainted. The Eat Local 10th-Annual Exhibition of Farmers will whet your appetite with dozens of area producers selling locally grown and grazed items, including subscriptions to their farms through Community Supported Agriculture memberships. The free event goes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Shawnee Civic Centre (13817 Johnson Drive in Shawnee). At 9:30 a.m., get healthy tips from Hilary Brown, owner of the Lawrence eatery Local Burger, when she presents "Good Health From Field to Plate." For more information, see kcfoodcircle.org.
