There are quite a few catastrophes in the world that don't seem in vogue enough to merit the attention of Irish rock stars or the largesse of sympathetic philanthropists. While the mainstream media laudably heap attention on high-profile stories such as the crisis in Darfur, equally deserving flashpoints go widely unnoticed. Join the discussion by catching tonight's screening of Invisible Children, the now-famous depiction of the violent insurgency and accompanying child abduction in Northern Uganda. The strong-arming by the notoriously ruthless Idi Amin seems tame compared with the tactics of the Lord's Resistance Army, the group responsible for kidnapping children and forcing them into military bondage. The film, made by three traveling students appalled by what they found in Uganda, spotlights a war largely uncovered by the world's press.
