Perhaps Shakespeare's most filmed tragedy, Othello has generated more than a dozen cinematic adaptations, ranging from an operatic interpretation starring Placido Domingo to a 2001 modernization that recast the titular general as a high school hoops star. The Central Branch of the Kansas City, Missouri, Public Library (14 West 10th Street, 816-701-3400) will screen those versions the next two Mondays, as part of its "The Moor, the Merrier" series, leading up to the play's Heart of America Shakespeare Festival debut on June 17. This Monday's selection, A Double Life, explores the paranoid derangement not of Othello himself but of a man playing the role. Ronald Colman won the 1948 Best Actor Oscar for his depiction of Anthony John, a thespian who yields his emotional identity to the characters he inhabits. The free screening starts at 6:30 p.m.
