Cover Me Pink

Longtime fans of the late, lamented Late Nite Theater might expect a certain flavor of camp humor in Ron Megee's production of Pink Floyd's The Wall at La Esquina (1000 West 25th Street, 816-221-5115), but according to Megee, they're in for something different. "It's straightforward," he says. "It's such a tragic story: A boy takes drugs and builds a wall in his head, seeing himself as a supremacist. Then the wall comes crashing down. This show is going to be very dark."Local musicians, including Jeff Harshbarger, Mark Lowry and Cody Wyoming, perform music from the original album; Brodie Rush plays Pink. "We're singing the whole thing — it's a wild musical, and it will be a wild experience," says Megee, who performs in addition to directing the show. "I play a nanny, a whore, a Nazi, a British soldier who gets blown away. Everybody plays six or seven roles, and we have a kid who plays young Pink through his early life." Catch shows at 10 p.m. Tonight and Saturday and 8 p.m. Monday. Tickets cost $10.
