Local basketball fans don't often get to watch professionals play the game. Since the departure of the Kansas City Kings two decades ago, NBA fans in KC get their fix only through obscure cable channels. That changes as the KC Pro-Am Summer League plays its second season at Penn Valley Community College (3201 Southwest Trafficway). The 12-team league features professional hoopsters such as Billy Thomas, Tyronn Lue and Nick Bradford, as well as college players beefing up their skills. The season kicks off with games tonight at 6:30 and 8. After that, matches happen Monday through Thursday at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Admission is always free.
