“Mistakes of the Century” by Waiting for Signal, fromThe Catastrophe EP (self-released):

With fewer than a dozen shows to its name, Kansas City's Waiting for Signal is still a new commodity on the local scene. But the group's debut, The Catastrophe EP, has some attention-getting moments that prove these four fellows are hardly fresh-faced when it comes to adrenalized rock music in the vein of Shiner and Season to Risk. Drummer Levi Winegar also probably listened to a lot of Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots, an education that can't be undervalued given WFS's preference for chunky rhythms and meandering guitar licks. If the "Kansas City sound" is just a figment of our imagination, it's still a pretty fertile dream.
