Could there be a more appropriate place in the metro than Johnson County for a castle? Caenen Castle, at 12401 Johnson Drive in Shawnee, makes an idyllic setting for parties — especially the weddings of brides who want to feel extra princessy on the big day. Chef Renée Kelly lords over the historic building, preparing the eats for many posh shindigs. This week — in honor of her fourth year at the castle — Kelly is cooking for the public. Nibble her fancy appetizers and sip wine like you're sophisticated from 5 to 8 p.m. nightly through Friday for $15. Or join her for cooking classes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and Friday. Call 913-631-4100 for reservations.
