Feature: "Children Left Behind," July 10

I am an audiologist in the Kansas City area who has just started working with children with auditory processing disorders. In oversimplified lay terms, it is dyslexia of hearing, and there is a high degree of comorbidity with autism. I get a little bit of flack within my own profession for helping these kids out with a very invisible, seemingly impossible problem. It is a tough assignment to advocate for these children with small voices, but Peter Rugg's article and the parents he presents in it are some of the best examples for outstanding advocacy I have seen in the Midwest.

Thank you for doing your part to help the children of Kansas City. Bravo!

I wanted to thank the editors of The Pitch for having the courage to print a story regarding the Lee's Summit R-7 School District. You interviewed both sides — parents and district staff — and made your own determinations based on the evidence. This story of how the children are being harmed needs to be told, or more and more children will be affected.

Thanks to Charles Ferruzza for his Fat Mouth column on Fox's Drug Store. It is a great place to go and have a root-beer float. They have great coffee, and a large group goes by each morning.
