Back about the time that George W. Bush took office, a University of Kansas homecoming game pretty much amounted to tailgating and flipping the channel to a more enticing matchup. If the boys in blue actually pulled out a win, bedlam was the requisite response — that is, dumping the goal posts in the lake and cavorting around downtown with I-can't-believe-we-just-beat-K-State grins. Oh, how times have changed. The Jayhawks are in the midst of their second exciting season, and a BCS Bowl is still within reach if tiny dynamo Todd Reesing and company can buck up and beat Big 12 bullies Texas Tech at 11 a.m. today at Memorial Stadium (11th Street and Alabama, 785-864-3141). It won't be easy. But, hey, this is homecoming, and we need an excuse to act like idiots all night. Make us proud, boys.
