With the cuteness avalanche of December rumbling above our heads, it's worth your time to toast the Unicorn Theatre (3828 Main, 816-531-7529), which tonight performs a holiday staging of Christopher Durang's Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You, the satire detailing how dogma messes up those who are dogged by it — a welcome burst of bitter before the holidays. (Don't let the title fool you, Nunsense fans. This comedy is for the fallen.) The Unicorn squeezed the head nun's habit onto the inimitable Ron Megee, meaning all that explaining comes from a performer whose résumé of comic triumphs is longer than Sister Mary's list of the damned. Director Jeff Church also cast Gary Campbell and Corrie Van Ausdal, two of Megee's Late Night Theatre co-conspirators, who too often are missing from local stages. Get your lapse on at 8 p.m. Call 816-531-7529 for tickets. The show runs through December 28.
