Midtown's Emerald House (3620 Main, 816-960-3650) is the premier dance destination this evening, with three contests: authentic ballroom dancing, swing and smoldering-hot salsa. Open to all levels of experience, the contests offer a $300 grand prize for each couple. But tonight isn't strictly about competition. Anyone with a mind for footwork can express his or her passion and dance for fun. Also on the table: an appetizer buffet and a nonalcoholic bar. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the night kicks off with free dance lessons until 9. Tickets for the 18-and-older event cost $10 at the door. Call 816-960-3650.
