Participants in fantasy football leagues may have to crunch some stats, but there's not much work involved beyond that. It's called "fantasy" football for a reason. The name of the Independent Film Coalition's latest creative endeavor, however, is a little misleading. The 2009 Fantasy Filmmaker Draft involves the writing, shooting, acting in, and editing of an actual short film. Team captains (executive producers), writers and directors will be selected in a draft at Westport Coffee House (4010 Pennsylvania, 816-756-3222) beginning at 7:30 p.m. Actors, editors and crew members will be drafted in February. The cost to participate is $5 for IFC members and $10 for everyone else. See ifckc.orgWed., Jan. 7, 7:30 p.m., 2009
