The combined weight of the women on the Kansas City Tribe's 2009 roster is 6,984 pounds. This all-female tackle football team, which finished 4-4 last season, returns to its home field at Center High School (8715 Holmes) for the season opener against the Minnesota Vixen on April 11. Until then, the 42 women, including eight all-star players, have practices to run, uniforms to order and money to raise. The first of these fundraisers is from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Czar Bar (1531 Grand, 816-221-2244). The Independent Women's Football League-sanctioned team, along with coaches and management, are getting together for a Super Bowl viewing party and beer bust. KC Tribe merchandise, gift certificates and concert tickets will be raffled off. Come early to get your $5 worth of PBR because 6,984 pounds of woman can go through a keg really fast.
